Build Your Own Personal KPI Dashboard
Big-company dashboards are built for big-company problems. As an individual — a founder, a creator, a freelancer — you don't need a data warehouse. You need to see your handful of numbers, every day, without logging into five tools.
Baton Board's KPI widget turns any metric into a clean, tracked number on your own board: revenue, MRR, subscribers, followers, words written, anything. It's a personal KPI dashboard that lives on your device — no account, no cloud.
What the KPI widget tracks
- A number with a history graph. Every KPI keeps its own history and draws a sparkline-style chart, so you see the trend, not just today's figure.
- Period zoom. Switch the graph between the last 7 days, 30 days, or all time, per widget.
- Min, max, and current labels, with a filled area chart, so the shape of your progress is obvious at a glance.
- A goal line overlaid. Point a goal widget at a KPI and its target appears as a dashed line on the chart — so you can see how close you are.
- Change and achievement. Each KPI shows the change since the previous point (green/red) and, against a linked goal, an achievement percentage with a warning if you're falling behind.
- Manual entry with dates. Log a value with a date, and your history records when each number landed and how it compares to last time.
Connect a source, or track it by hand
- Provider presets. Choose a source like Stripe, YouTube, GitHub, X, Instagram, or Mastodon, and the widget pre-fills the value path and gives you source-specific hints.
- Read-only keys, kept local. You connect with a read-only key, it's stored on your device, and it's stripped out when you export your board — so a shared file never leaks a key.
- Live fetch on desktop. The desktop app can pull values automatically from read-only endpoints (the web version is manual entry, for security). Either way, the number lands on your board.
Several KPIs, side by side
Put two KPIs next to each other — revenue and ad spend, subscribers and views — and read them together. Add a goal widget for the target, a habit widget for the daily input that drives the number, and a task widget for the work. The whole loop — input, work, and outcome — sits on one board.
Private and yours
- No account, no cloud database. Your metrics live on your device.
- Works offline. Your numbers and graphs are always there, connection or not.
- Export anytime. Your whole board, KPI history included, writes to a
data.jsonfile you own (with API keys stripped out).
Who it's for
- Indie founders watching MRR, revenue, and runway without parking it in another SaaS.
- Creators tracking subscribers, views, and followers across platforms in one place.
- Freelancers keeping income and pipeline numbers close.
- Anyone with a "north-star" number they want in front of them every day.
Frequently asked questions
Can I build a personal KPI dashboard with Baton Board?
Yes. The KPI widget tracks any metric with a history graph, period zoom, min/max/current labels, change indicators, and an optional goal line — and you can place several KPIs on one board.
Can it pull numbers from Stripe, YouTube, or GitHub automatically?
The desktop app can fetch values from read-only endpoints, with presets for sources like Stripe, YouTube, GitHub, X, Instagram, and Mastodon. The web version uses manual dated entry for security. Keys are read-only and stay on your device.
Can I set a target on a KPI?
Yes. Link a goal to a KPI and its target appears as a line on the chart, with an achievement percentage and a warning if you're behind.
Where is my KPI data stored?
On your device — your browser or a local file — never on our servers. Exports strip out any API keys.
Is the KPI widget free?
The KPI widget is part of the Pro analytics set. The free plan includes one board with the six core widgets, export/import, backups, search, and eight languages.
Pricing
The core board is free. Pro (¥980/month or ¥9,800/year) unlocks the analytics widgets — KPIs, goals, habits, agenda, activity — plus unlimited boards, the AI assistant, end-to-end sync, and deep customization. A ¥14,800 lifetime license is available. Polar handles payments and worldwide taxes.
